About this piece

The Halden was drawn around one requirement: a seat deep enough to actually sit back in. The frame is kiln-dried beech, mortise-and-tenon jointed, with eight-way hand-tied springs under a feather-wrapped foam cushion. The velvet is a 45,000-rub upholstery weight — heavy enough for a family room, soft enough that you notice it.

    Exactly the depth I wanted

    I measured three times before ordering and the dimensions on the page were accurate to the millimetre. The delivery team carried it up two flights and took the packaging away. The velvet is heavier than I expected in a good way — it does not mark when you sit down and get up.

    Good, with one note

    Build quality is genuinely better than anything I looked at locally. Took a week longer than the estimate, which they emailed about in advance. The charcoal reads slightly warmer in daylight than the photos suggest.

  • Will this fit through a 760mm doorway?

    The packed depth is 1,000mm but the sofa itself is 920mm deep and can be turned on its side, so a 760mm doorway is fine with two people. The legs unscrew if you need a few more centimetres.

    Yes — seat and back cushion covers zip off. They are dry-clean only; washing the velvet at home will flatten the pile.
